Playing their first game since 2018, the Middlesex College Women's Soccer team fell in their season opener to Montgomery County Community College of Pennsylvania, 7-0.
The Colts did not field a team in 2019 and did not compete due to Covid in 2020.
"The women played hard," said Head Coach Adrienne Giordano. "We created some opportunities but were unable to finish them. We have some more work to do but it was great to be back out on the field representing Middlesex."
Playing shorthanded and coming off a two-week layoff, the Mustangs (1-0) scored four first half goals and added three in the second half. The Colts (0-1) suffered multiple injuries and played much of the game down two players. Despite that, Middlesex generated multiple scoring chances and held Montgomery County College scoreless for long periods of time.
Rania Alaboura (Freshman/Edison, NJ) played the entire game in goal for the Colts and registered multiple dramatic saves.
Middlesex College is back in action Thursday when they travel to Bergen Community College for 3:30 start.
