WANSAW POWERS MIDDLESEX PAST MINNESOTA NORTH-ITASCA 12-2

Gavin McBeath belted a two-run home run and was one of four Colts to register multi-hit games as Middlesex beat Minnesota North-Itasca 12-2 in their first game of their week-long trip to Myrtle Beach.

McBeath finished the day 2-2 with a walk two runs and four RBIs to pace the Colts attack.

The Vikings actually jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Middlesex when they reached Colts starter Michael Wansaw (Sophomore/Elizabeth, NJ) for a run in the top of the first. However, that lead would be short-lived as Middlesex responded with six runs in the bottom of the first to take command of the game.

The support was more than enough for Wansaw, who pitched a complete game for his second win of the season. Wansaw allowed just two earned runs and struck out six over five innings.

John Oranchak (Freshman/East Brunswick, NJ) and Matthew Troche (Sophomore/Fords, NJ) joined Wansaw and McBeath as the four Colts who each had two hits in the game.

Middlesex continues play Sunday when they face off against Illinois Valley.
