TOMASULA TWIRLS NO-HITTER AGAINST ILLINOIS VALLEY CC
Sophomore Ryan Tomasula made the most of his first collegiate start as he twirled a no-hitter to lead Middlesex College baseball past Illinois Valley CC 12-0.
Tomasula, a lefty from Edison, NJ had made nine relief appearances for the Colts the past two seasons.
Middlesex pushed across four runs in the first inning and after a scoreless second, Angel DeAza (Freshman/Elizabeth, NJ) belted a two-run homer to extend the Middlesex lead to 6-0.
Sal Della Fave (Freshman/Edison, NJ) extended the Colts lead to 9-0 with a three run homer in the fourth and Middlesex pushed across three runs in the fifth to extend their lead.
The only drama in the game was whether Tomasula would finish off his no-hitter, which he did in the fifth when he got through Illinois Valley, invoking the mercy rule.
