TURNER HOMERS TWICE, DRIVES IN 11 AS MIDDLESEX BASEBALL SWEEPS DELAWARE COUNTY

Michael Canavesio, Pablo Blanco and Michael Calabrese combined on a no-hitter and Dylan Lugo went 8-10 across two games as Middlesex College baseball swept a doubleheader from Delaware County CC.

Middlesex won by scores of 27-0 and 15-4.

Game 1 was close through the first two innings before Middlesex (23-15) erupted for 16 runs in the top of the third. The Colts added four in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

Batting leadoff, Lugo went 5-6 with a double, two runs and four RBIs. Michael Wansaw (Sophomore/Elizabeth, NJ) went 4-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.

Natanael Friedman (Sophomore/Clifton, NJ) went 3-3 with a double, five runs scored and three RBIs.

Conor Drury (Freshman/North Brunswick, NJ) and Alex Turner (Freshman/Clinton, NJ) had three hits each with Turner also delivering a home run and a team-high six RBIs.

In Game 2, the Colts offense was explosive again with Turner playing a huge role for the second straight game. The third basemen went 3-3 with a home run and two runs. He added five more RBIs, giving him 11 in the doubleheader.

Lugo and Sal Della Fave (Freshman/Edison, NJ) also had three-hit games.

Paul DiPasquale (Freshman/Edison, NJ) went the first three innings on the mound and did not allow a run. Matthew Jason (Freshman/Edison, NJ) worked the final two innings to preserve the win.

Middlesex enters a busy stretch as the regular season enters the finals weeks. They play seven games over the next five days, starting with a three-game series against Bergen CC. Game 1 of the series is schedule for Friday at Bergen CC with first pitch scheduled for 3:30PM.
