MIDDLESEX COLLEGE BASEBALL RALLIES PAST OCEAN TO GIVE CJ MOONEY 250TH CAREER WIN

Ryan Acquisto continued his torrid start to the 2025 season by delivering another walk off hit and Chris Peralta provided 2.1 innings of scoreless relief as Middlesex College rallied to beat visiting Ocean CC.

The won moved the Colts record to 4-1 this season and is the 250th win of Head Coach CJ Mooney's career.

Middlesex fell behind Ocean 3-0 in the top of the first, but responded for three runs in the bottom of the inning. Angel Deaza (Sophomore/Elizabeth, NJ) drove home a run with a single in the inning and Conor Drury (Sophomore/North Brunswick, NJ) delivered a sacrifice fly.

The Colts took what looked to be a commanding 7-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but Ocean scored seven unanswered runs to take a 10-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Middlesex got a run back in the bottom of the seventh on a double steal, with Drury taking home and scored another single run in the eighth on an RBI hit by Acquisto.

Down 10-9 in the bottom of the ninth, the Colts rally was started by Jhoalvin Ledesma (Freshman/Carteret, NJ) who was hit with a pitch leading off the frame. He advanced to second on a fielder's choice and scored on an RBI single by Drew Lukachyk (Freshman/Woodbridge, NJ) to tie the game.

Brett Lukachyk (Sophomore/Woodbridge, NJ) and Julian Collado (freshman/Perth Amboy, NJ) then drew back-to-back walks, setting the stage for Acquisto, who blasted the game-winner over the drawn-in outfield.

Collado went 3-4 with three runs scored to lead the Colts. He reached base five times in total, also drawing a walk and hit by pitch.

Acquisto, Drury, Deaza and Drew Lukachyk had two hits each.

Peralta pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing just one hit and no runs, to pick up the win.

The teams return to action on Friday when the Colts travel to Ocean for a doubleheader. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 12:00PM.
