RZEPINSKI DOMINATES #3 BROOKDALE AS COLTS TOPPLE JERSEY BLUES 4-2
Ryan Rzepinski was dominant on the mound and Antonio Friedman had a fantastic all-around game as #8 Middlesex topped #3 Brookdale CC 4-2.
With the win, the Colts move to 18-7 on the year while Brookdale falls to 16-3.
Brookdale got on the board first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, but Rzepinski locked things down from there as the Colts chipped away on offense.
Middlesex cut the Brookdale lead in half in the bottom of the first and then tied the game at 2 in the bottom of the second.
The Colts took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth and then it was all Rzepinski from there. The sophomore righty dominated the Jersey Blues, keeping them scoreless through the final six innings of the game.
He had to wiggle out of trouble in the seventh as Brookdale loaded the bases with two outs, putting the potential tying run in scoring position and go-ahead run at first. However, he induced a flyout to right to seal the victory.
Rzepinski struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits in the complete game effort.
Friedman had two hits, a double, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base to lead the offense.
Ryan Acquisto (Freshman/Point Pleasant Boro, NJ) had two hits and an RBI and Riquelby Madera (Freshman/Paterson, NJ) also drove in a run for the Colts.
Middlesex is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Montgomery CC for a single game. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30PM.
