Middlesex College Men's Soccer dropped their first match of the season, falling to undefeated Northampton 2-1 in a close match at home.
Middlesex (2-1) jumped on the board first when Juan Arboleda (freshman/Elizabeth, NJ) tallied his first collegiate goal off a pass from Jamie Madrid (Sophomore/Perth Amboy, NJ) at the 15-minute mark.
Northampton (3-0) answered 20 minutes later when a miskick landed at the feet of Nicholas McCoy, who converted the open shot.
The deciding goal came in the game's 75th minute when an intended cross found the upper 90 of the Middlesex goal.
Jayson Vassllo (Sophomore/South River, NJ) started in goal for the Colts, but left the game at halftime due to injury. Jeremy Madrid (Sophomore/Perth Amboy, NJ) played well in the second half for Middlesex. The two keepers combined for four saves.
Middlesex returns to action Thursday when they travel to Bergen Community College for a 4pm kickoff.
