MICHAEL NYCZ UNANIMOUSLY NAMED GSAC/REGION XIX MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Michael Nycz, a sophomore outside hitter from Woodbridge, New Jersey, was named the Garden State Athletic Conference and Region XIX Men's Volleyball Player of the Year in a vote conducted by the conference and region Head Coaches.

Nycz's selection as the GSAC and Region XIX Player of the Year was unanimous.

In addition, Tyler Ryan (Sophomore/Port Reading, NJ) was named to the GSAC and Region XIX First Team.

Nycz and Ryan led the Colts Men's Volleyball team to an 8-8 record this year and a second place finish in the Garden State Athletic Conference and Region XIX. Myia Williams' Colts team garnered the #2 seed in the Region XIX Playoffs and will take on Union College at 6:30PM on March 30. The Colts have beaten Union three times this season.

Perhaps the hardest hitter in the Region, Nycz led all of Region XIX and was second in the nation in kills per set with 2.93. His high game for kills this season came against Region XIX regular season champion Ocean CC when he registered 19 kills in four sets. He was also third in the nation among NJCAA Division 3 Men's Volleyball players with 135 total kills and seventh in the nation with a .294 hitting percentage.

Ryan had just as impressive a season placing fourth in the nation in kills (130), fourth in kills per set (2.89) and third in hitting percentage (.342).
