Makenzie Marsh and Jalena Santiago each registered a four-hit game and Madison Rackett threw two complete games as Middlesex College softball swept Ocean CC by scores of 6-1 and 17-0.
With the wins, Middlesex moved to 5-1 and currently sits in first place in Region 19 early in the 2025 season.
In Game 1 against Ocean, Middlesex struck for two runs in the top of the first and then single runs in the third and fourth innings. Ocean pushed across their first run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Colts added two insurance runs in the seventh on the way to a 6-1 win.
Leah Kripaitis (Sophomore/Woodbridge, NJ), Gianna Rios (Freshman/Woodbridge, NJ) and Marsh all had two hits for the Colts and Carla Seyfarth (Sophomore/Monmouth Junction, NJ) connected for her first home run of the season.
Rackett allowed just four hits and one unearned runs in the seven-inning complete game win. The righty struck out nine Vikings.
In Game 2, Middlesex had the bats going right from the start as they plated nine runs in the top of the first. They added eight more across the third and fourth innings to cruise to a 17-0, five-inning win.
Marsh was 4-4 with three doubles and four runs scored while Santiago was 4-4 with a run and RBI. Seyfarth went 3-3 with a triple and three runs scored and Kelsey Geurts (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) went 2-3 with a run, two RBIs, two stolen bases and her first collegiate home run.
Rackett again was masterful in the circle, going five innings while allowing just two singles. She struck out five in the shutout win.
Middlesex, who owns a win over #6 Brookdale CC, received votes in the latest NJCAA D3 National Poll.
The Colts return to action on Tuesday when they are scheduled to host Monroe University from the Bronx for a home doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30.
