Bio

Coach Muldowney is a 2010 graduate of North Brunswick High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete in soccer and baseball. During his junior and senior seasons, he helped lead the Raiders to back-to-back GMC/County Championship appearances, setting a school record with 30 RBIs in 2010.

His journey with the Middlesex College softball program began in 2019 as a volunteer assistant coach, at a time when the Colts did not have an active team. Since then, the program has been revitalized into a regional powerhouse, highlighted by a 2022 Region 19 Championship and a historic trip to the NJCAA National Championship Series—the program’s first regional title in 41 years. Under his tenure, the Colts have consistently performed at a high level, posting a .500 or better record every season and reaching the playoffs annually. Over the past two seasons alone, the team has compiled an impressive 35-20 record.

In 2022, the Colts finished the regular season at 21-6, earning the #3 seed in the Region 19 Tournament. After an early loss put them on the brink of elimination, the team battled back to force a deciding game 3, securing a dramatic 2-0 victory over RCSJ-Gloucester to claim the Region 19 Championship. The Colts went on to lead the nation in ERA that season, with their top pitcher earning Region 19 Tournament MVP honors.

The 2024 season saw the Colts reach new heights, finishing 24-7 and earning a No. 7 national ranking. The team excelled across the board, ranking third in the nation in ERA, producing the most All-Region players in Region 19, and boasting a 1st Team NJCAA All-American—the program’s first since 1998 and the only player from New Jersey to receive the honor. Additionally, the Colts finished tied for first place in Region 19 with a 14-2 record, further solidifying their status as one of the top teams in the region.

During the 2024 postseason, Coach Muldowney stepped into the role of acting Head Coach, leading the team through a challenging playoff run while his father, Head Coach Jim Muldowney, was hospitalized. Tragically, Jim Muldowney passed away in May 2024, leaving behind a lasting legacy with the program he helped build. Now, as he moves into the full-time Assistant Coach role, Coach Muldowney is driven by the desire to honor his father’s memory and make him proud every day. His duties include overseeing hitting and infield defense, assisting with practice planning and game strategy, and calling every pitch in every game. His passion and commitment to the program have helped shape the Colts into a national contender, and he remains dedicated to building on the foundation his father helped create.

Coach Muldowney is a 2014 graduate of Rutgers University, where he majored in Criminal Justice. He is currently employed by the Montgomery Township School District and resides in North Brunswick, N.J.
