RICE SCORES SEASON HIGH 23 POINTS IN 66-65 WIN OVER BROOKDALE CC

Alyssa Rice scored a season-high 23 points and Angelina Peralta-Almonte registered yet another double-double as Middlesex College kept their playoff push alive with a 65-55 win over Brookdale CC.

The Colts are now 10-12 on the season with five games remaining in the next 10 days of the regular season.

Middlesex got off to a fast start against the Jersey Blues, outscoring Brookdale 17-9 in the opening quarter on their way to a 34-21 halftime lead.

The teams played evenly for much of the second half as the Colts hung on for a 10-point win.

Rice, who shot 10-23 from the field while playing the full 40 minutes, eclipsed 20 points for the third time this season. Rice paced Middlesex with five steals as well.

The double-double was Peralta-Almonte's sixth of the season. Yasmen Zafar (Sophomore/North Plainfield) scored 16 points and was 4-8 from three-point range.

Middlesex College returns to action on Tuesday with a home matchup against Bronx CC. Tipoff is set for 5:00PM.
