Izzy Marin scored four goals in her Middlesex College women's soccer debut and three other Colts found the back of the net in a season-opening 9-1 win at Bucks County College.
Adrianna Nazarko (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) saved four of the five shots she faced in the contest to pick up the win in goal in her collegiate debut as well.
Playing in intense heat, Middlesex and Bucks remained scoreless for the first 18:00 of play with Nazarko deflecting a penalty kick to keep the Centurions off the board.
The Colts finally broke through when Genesis Garces-Gomez (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) converted a pass from Nicole Naranjo (Sophomore/South River, NJ) in the 18th minute. Marin added her first goal of the game in the 27th minute to give the Colts a 2-0 halftime lead.
Middlesex erupted for seven goals in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Marin scored three additional goals in the second half with Garces-Gomez, Jennifer Bras (Freshman/Colonia, NJ) and Gissel Chirino (Freshman/Carteret, NJ) also getting on the sheet for the Colts.
Middlesex registered 18 shots on goal in a dominant performance while Bucks was able to get just five shots on goal against a stout Colts defense.
Middlesex returns to the pitch on Thursday when they travel to Brookdale CC in a big Region XIX early season matchup. Game time is set for 4:00PM.
