CHIRINO SCORES TWICE TO LEAD MIDDLESEX WOMENS SOCCER PAST NORTH COUNTRY 5-0

Gissel Chirino found the back of the net twice and Adrianna Nazarko notched her first collegiate shutout as the Colts topped visiting North Country CC 5-0.

The victory moved the Colts' record to 2-1 on the season.

Chirino gave Middlesex a lead they would not relinquish in the 17th minute when she converted a pass from Genesis Garces-Gomez (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ). Although Middlesex dominated play, it was the only goal of the half for either team.

Holding a slim 1-0 lead, Middlesex broke the game open with three goals in a six minute span in the second half.

Jennifer Bras (Freshman/Colonia, NJ) got the streak started with a goal with an assist from Kayla Maisano (Helmetta, NJ) in the 53rd minute. Three minutes later, Garces-Gomez buried a direct kick to extend the Colts' lead to 3-0.

In the 58th minute, Nazarko corralled a save and punted downfield. After a long bounce, Chirino gathered the ball and put it past the North Country keeper for sixth goal of the young season.

Middlesex capped the scoring in the 65th minute when Ashlee Clotter-Quijano (Sophomore/Iselin, NJ) scored her first collegiate goal with Isabelle Marin (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) assisting on the play.

Middlesex outshot North Country 15-6 on the day with Chirino and Garces-Gomez leading the way with five shots each.

Nazarko recorded two saves in the shutout victory.

The Colts return to action Tuesday when they take on Camden CC, their first Region XIX opponent of the season. Game time is set for 3:00PM at Camden.
