Six different players scored goals and Paula Antunes picked up her third shutout of the season in goal as Middlesex College Women's Soccer upended Nassau CC 7-0 in a cross-region showdown.
It was the sixth win over the past seven games for the Colts, five of which have come via shutout.
Genesis Garces-Gomez (Sophomore, North Plainfield, NJ) kick-started the Colts offense with a goal just 1:36 into the game and extended that lead to 2-0 with her 14th goal of the season in the 33rd minute.
Middlesex received two more first half goals from Gabriela Ardon (Freshman/Linden, NJ) and Kaitlyn Haak (Freshman/Keasbey, NJ) to extend the Colts lead to 4-0 going into the half.
The Colts kept the forward momentum going in the second half as they picked up goals from Isabelle Marin (Sophomore/South Plainfield, NJ), Sara Sanchez (Sophomore/Carteret, NJ) and Jasmin Alvarado (Sophomore/Plainfield, NJ) as they sealed the 7-0 victory.
Marin and Garces-Gomez continue to be the highest scoring teammates in the country on the NJCAA Division III level. The sophomores have combined for 29 goals this season.
