David Galvez scored his first career hat trick and Robert Berrios picked up his first win in goal as Middlesex College Men's Soccer topped Atlantic Cape 4-1.
The Colts are now 4-2-1 on the season as they enter a crucial week on the schedule.
The first 30 minutes of the game were scoreless, but Galvez changed that quickly. The freshman scored goals at the 30:58 and 31:24 mark to give the Colts a 2-0 lead.
Isaiah Scott converted a pass from Danny Amorim in the 34th minute to extend the Colts lead to 3-0. Atlantic Cape was able to answer less than two minutes later and the game went to the half with Middlesex up 3-1.
The lone goal in the second half came from Galvez as he scored unassisted to complete the hat trick.
Middlesex has seven games remaining over the final two weeks for the season as they continue to battle for a playoff spot. This week, they take on Raritan Valley CC (6-3-2), Sussex CC (7-2-1) and Northampton (5-4-2) in three crucial matchups that can go a long way to determine playoff qualification and seeding.
